IRD

IRD (the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development) is a well-respected and internationally recognized multidisciplinary research organization with nearly 80 years of experience collaborating with countries in the Global South and French overseas territories. Committed to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, IRD is renowned for its equitable scientific partnerships and interdisciplinary approach to sustainability science, which emphasizes citizen engagement. As an institute operating under the authority of the French ministries responsible for higher education and research, as well as European and foreign affairs, IRD plays a pivotal role in advancing research and innovation. The researchers from IRD involved in the WINSA are affiliated with the MIVEGEC Joint Research Unit, the largest French laboratory focused on the ecology and evolution of infectious diseases. However, other research units specializing in data sciences and geography (ESPACE DEV) are also actively involved in the project through the LMI sentinella.

Ambassade de France au Brésil

L’Ambassade de France au Brésil à travers le Service de Coopération et d’Action Culturelle (SCAC) a pour mission de soutenir, d’accompagner et de mettre en œuvre des projets de coopération entre la France et le Brésil. L’ambassade de France intervient dans quatre secteurs spécifiques : arts et culture ; langue française et éducation ; enseignement supérieur, science et innovation ; gouvernance (modernisation de l’État, droits de l’Homme et justice) et enjeux globaux (développement durable et santé). Les équipes sont implantées dans plusieurs capitales et ont une vocation régionale : Brasilia (pour les régions Nord et Centre-Ouest), São Paulo (pour la région Sud), Recife (pour la région Nord-Est), Rio de Janeiro (pour la région Sud-Est) et Belo Horizonte (pour l’État de Minas Gerais). Le SCAC travaille en partenariat avec un large réseau français au Brésil : Alliances Françaises, CampusFrance, Lycées Français, Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD), Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement (CIRAD), Institut national de la recherche agronomique (INRAe), Agence française de développement (AFD) et Business France.

Fiocruz

Founded in 1900 as a pioneering initiative in Brazil, the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC) is a technical and scientific unit of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). Over its 124 years of existence, it has become a complex that generates knowledge, products, and services in the biomedical field, aiming to meet the health needs of the Brazilian population. The IOC operates in the areas of research, technological development, and innovation, as well as in providing reference services for the diagnosis of infectious and genetic diseases and for vector control, supported by internal committees responsible for ensuring biosafety, quality, and environmental management standards.
